How do manual recommendations work?

Although the core of the Frequently Bought Together app is automatic recommendations, you can also use the app to configure recommendations manually.

This can be convenient if you don't have a good sales history yet or if you want to fine-tune the recommendations for some particular product.

Manual recommendations are configured on a product-by-product basis.

You will find a link to access the Manual Bundles section on the app preferences page, found on the side panel:

There you can add, remove and sort the manual recommendations for each product using a visual interface:

Manual recommendations are always displayed first. After that, the automatic, global and random recommendations will be shown, in that order.

If you don't want other recommendations added to your manual bundles, you can do it easily with the option 'Exclusive manual bundles'. This is detailed at Why are more recommendations added to my manual bundles?

This is the initial page you will see the first time you access the module:

Click on the button with the text Select a product to check its bundle to select the product. Then, select the product on the pop-up and click on the Select button in green

Then you will be redirected to the recommendations. As expected, there isn't any recommendation for the selected product so let's start adding recommendations.

Click on the button named as Select products to add it to this bundle:

and check all products you want to show as recommendations. Finally, click on the Add button :

You will see the product at the top and its recommendations below, like in the screenshot below.

Repeat the process for each product you want to add manual recommendations.

Note that the screenshots show products from our demo site. These manual recommendations will appear first as stated in the description:
