Cheapest item for free discount and Shopify Markets

The 'Cheapest item for free' discount offers the most inexpensive product of the bundle free if the bundle total is above a given threshold.

In Shopify Markets, you can set fixed prices, which could cause the most inexpensive product to be different across different markets.

This sort of price change may impact the 'Cheapest item for free' discount since the most inexpensive product may be different for different markets. The discount is calculated in the shop currency to deal with this behaviour, so the app offers the most inexpensive product for free in the shop currency.

This means that if you change the prices dramatically in a given market, you could prevent the app from offering a discount.

Let's see it with an example. We have configured a manual bundle with three products and the 'Cheapest item for free' discount.

As we can see, the most inexpensive product in the shop currency is the last one, and it is offered for free in the default market.

However, if we lower the backpack's price in the UK market to £20, below $29.99, the discount is not offered because the cap is no longer the cheapest product.

The 'Cheapest item for free' discount is a great deal, but we recommend that you keep prices proportional across all markets to safely offer the discount to all of them.
