Can we configure videos from multiple video services?

The Video Background app only works with YouTube and Vimeo videos. 

We decided to use YouTube and Vimeo because they have the best streaming infrastructure on the planet.

Videos uploaded to a web server, like Shopify servers, are not streamed but downloaded, which has an impact on its performance.

YouTube and Vimeo provide a high-end environment to host the videos and also serves the videos in an optimized way according to the user's network bandwidth connection.

This is usually not a limitation because uploading a video to YouTube and Vimeo is free and only takes a few minutes. YouTube also provides some built-in video editing tools.
